“Leave Me Alone”
We humans are by design “social creatures”. We thrive off of social interaction.
No man is an island. Each one teach one. No conversation can take place without a speaker and a listener. No transaction can take place without a seller and a buyer.
With all of that being said, I’d consider myself to be quite an introverted person. I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve ignored phone calls, text messages, or pretended to be busy; preferring my own company over social gatherings.
Thankfully I can’t relate entirely to Michael Jackson’s struggles of people taking all of his money (I’ve never had enough money for people to take), but I can relate to the feeling of people taking from me and not offering anything in return.
To me this song says that the best way to protect yourself from people is to just… not be around people.
