Unplugged Headphones: Who Let The Dogs Out (Baha Men)

“Who Let The Dogs Out?”

Let’s start at the beginning, with the first CD I ever owned.

The first time I heard this song was on the soundtrack for ‘The Rugrats in Paris: The Movie’ and then again (and again) on MTV. This was before the days when you could just go on YouTube and listen to your favourite song on a loop, if you wanted to hear a song you’d have to wait for it to come back in the mix or buy the CD. It wasn’t long before I got fed up with missing the beginning of the song/catching it right at the end and my dad took me to the music store after school and bought me the CD.

This was the store where I bought my first CD, ‘Dub Vendor’ in Ladbroke Grove. If you know, you know…

I literally had it on repeat in the living room from the moment I got it until it mysteriously vanished one day…

It reminds me of a simpler time, a time before I had to think about making money or getting a university degree… a time when all I wanted to know was “WHO LET THE DOGS OUT?
