If you came to my house when I was between the age of 6 and 16, you never would have known that there were any TV channels other than Disney Channel. I watched it before school, and school and on weekends too if the weather outside wasn’t looking too appetising!
One of my favourite Disney channel shows of all-time is The Proud Family. As a child I loved it because it was funny, unpredictable and original. As an adult I loved it for everything it stood for. There aren’t many children’s shows that highlight the Black family unit in such an authentic and loving way, and The Proud Family has withstood the test of time for that very reason. Thankfully, Disney have made the decisions to reboot the series with the release of ‘The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder’ on Disney + so the next generation can experience the happiness that I, and many other children were able to.
