Leslie Odom Jr. is one of those people who are exceptional at everything. I’m pretty sure that if you asked him to juggle, translate ancient Egyptian hieroglyphics or bake a soufflé, he’d be able to do all of them without a second thought. It just so happens that this time around he was asked to play the legendary Soul singer Sam Cooke, and as to be expected, he was sensational!
Amazon Prime’s ‘One Night In Miami’ is full of exceptional performances, but Leslie Odom Jr’’s might just be the best one. If you don’t believe me, just watching him sing Chain Gang and you’ll feel the hairs on the back of your next stand up. It was a pleasure to talk to him about his creative process and admiration for his co-stars.
