The VERDICT – Fernando Llorente

Fernando Llorente’s pedrigree cannot be questioned; World Cup winner, 3x Serie A winner and over 100 goals at club level.

Matter-a-fact the thought of Swansea securing a player of this calibre a few seasons ago would’ve been a dream. But this season, it’s anything but…

Llorente has just come off the back of his worst season in recent memory, netting only 4 goals on 24 league games in a dreadful spell at Sevilla. If that wasn’t enough to put Swansea off the deal, his playing style should be!

Llorente is a target man, he waits for the ball to come to him and he finishes it. This isn’t necessary a bad thing, but it just doesn’t suit Swansea’s ‘tikki-takka’ style of play.

After losing Andre Ayew and Bafetimbi Gomis this summer, Swansea will be relying heavily on the Spaniard to deliver the goals, but it’s likely he’ll fall short of the mark.

The VERDICT… Will Get Goals, But Not Enough To Keep The Swans In The League
